In October of 2007, the Robert & Karin Finlay Foundation extended a challenge to all NH libraries, museums, and historical societies to increase their memberships. As an incentive, Mr. Finlay has pledged $25,000 to each of the three top institutions to do so over the course of of a year. This initiative was designed to energize the cultural workforce and to raise awareness of these vital resources. It was also meant to inspire education and bring our communities closer together. The Hill Public Library agreed to accept the challenge, and we’ve had a great response from the residents of Hill. Since starting on Nov. 1, 2007, the library has issued 88 new cards. This number may not seem impressive to most, however the library has been quite a busy place in the past year!
If you don’t have a library card, it’s not too late to help us toward our goal. ‘When you sign up for a card, you’ll also be eligible to win one of several prizes we’ll be raffling off. Hurry in; the deadline is Oct. 31. As always, we thank you for your support!
