Hill Public Library is pleased to announce its 2009 Summer Reading Program, “Summertime….and the Reading is Easy”. This year we’ll be celebrating all the joys of summer. We’ll kick off the program July 9 with a visit by NH author/illustrator, Marty Kelley. If you’re not familiar with Marty’s books, check out Summer Stinks, a humorous list of reasons for disliking summer. Once again, we will end the program with an old-fashioned summer carnival (this year we’ll be featuring a petting zoo!), scheduled for August 13. A complete schedule of events and activities should be available by June 1.
When I think of this year’s theme, I remember my old aluminum swing set, popsicles, the scent of Coppertone, sparklers, and all the other pleasures of those long lazy days of summer. If you’d like to lend a hand in making summertime memories for the kids in your community, please join us on Wednesday, May 13 at 4 PM, for the SRP Committee’s first meeting. Don’t forget to bring a “summery” of your ideas! If you’re interested in helping out or have something special you’d like to share with the kids, but are unable to attend this meeting, please call the Library at your convenience.
