The Town Budget and Warrant has been finalized, and again the library is in need of support. Please get out and vote for your Town Officials on Tuesday, March 14, 2017, and consider attending the annual Town Meeting on Thursday, March 16 at 7:00 PM. Both the Board of Selectmen and Budget Committee recommend level funding the Town’s contribution to the library, an amount that will not cover the proposed 2017 operating budget.
The Library Board of Trustees does not spend your tax dollars frivolously. Town funds are used to keep the library open and convenient for our patrons. Our proposed budget will cost the taxpayers just pennies of their tax dollar. A reduction in revenue will result in cuts to hours of operation, new book purchases, and library programming/services. We understand there are residents who don’t have a need for what the library has to offer. However, please review our statistics over the last several years. There are many people, especially families, who depend on access to the library, and its resources.
One of the advantages of living in a small town is the ability to actually make a difference in our community. Hill Public Library lovers, you must use your voices to ensure your library remains viable and fully funded!
