WELCOME TO KIDS KORNER

Welcome to Kids Korner at the Hill Public Library. We offer many books and programs to encourage kids to begin the life-long joy of reading. New books are always being added to our volumes and fun activities or programs happen each week. Stop in to the Children’s Hour Thursdays from 11am to Noon for a story and craft or visit us at one of the many upcoming programs…and remember they are FREE. We also offer museum passes to Hill families which you can find on our services page. We thank the Friend’s of the Library for financially supporting these.

Lindsay & Her Puppet Pals

July 10 ~ 6 PM

This funny, fast-paced, and highly interactive variety show delights the young and the young at heart! Kids will meet several larger-than-life, hand-crafted puppets… Perhaps a goofy moose, a heroic tiger, or a lovable bear. Oh my! Maybe a dancing robot or flamingo, a spunky chicken, a stubborn goat, a shy dragon, or a singing dinosaur! Come find out who’s making an appearance this time!
Weather permitting, Lindsay’s show will take place at the Skip Wallace Pavilion, located just across the street from the library.

Three Men and a One-Shilling Knife

July 14 ~ 6 PM

Three Men and a One-Shilling Knife: A Genealogical Look at Local History:  Presented by the New Hampshire Society of Genealogists (NHSOG), this engaging program uses a dramatic 1788 tavern killing in New Durham to show how genealogists uncover the stories from the past. Through newspapers, court records, military records, petitions, and other original sources, the lecture follows the intertwined lives of three Revolutionary War veterans and reveals how family history research can illuminate the people, events, and communities of New Hampshire’s past.

NHSOG speaker, Sarah Brown, resides in Bow NH, where she volunteers as a Granite State Ambassador, serves on the Membership Committee for the Buntin-Rumford-Webster Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, an occasional OLLI class assistant, and has several roles with the New Hampshire Society of Genealogists. After retiring she took up genealogy and using her mother’s research for DAR as a starting point, found not only five more Revolutionary Patriots but also two Mayflower passengers in her family tree. She is finally putting her History degree to good use.
